WENDY AND TOM DINE OUT

When traveling the highways, it is nice to have a cozy place to stop. The Traveler restaurant is perfect for a fast meal in pleasant surroundings. Although the food we ate was only "average" in quality, the experience was very satisfying. The restaurant is "homey" and the ambiance is cheerful with quiet music playing the background. The menu is varied and serves some breakfast items all day. It also offers sandwiches, interesting burgers, appetizers, seafoods, steaks and other dinners. The dessert list that includes Kentucky Derby Pie ($2.69) and Toasted Almond Cream Cake ($2.99), sounded especially nice. The next time we return, we will try one of their turkey dinners because these looked very appetizing. While dining at the Traveler restaurant diners are surrounded by books. There are books in the entryway, bookcases in the rear of the dining room and books on a ledge around the upper walls. Below the ledge are mostly signed pictures of famous authors and a short biography of each one. Each diner is allowed to leave with one book of their choice. Downstairs is a nicely catalogued bookstore with reasonable prices.
